Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) will hold its JUPAS Consultation Day on 17 May (Saturday) at its Ho Man Tin Campus. Representatives from various Schools and Departments will introduce the University and provide admissions and programme information. The event will feature a wide range of activities, including campus tours, programme talks, interactive taster workshops and a library open house. Students, parents, teachers and all interested members of the public are welcome to join the event.

As Hong Kong's first university of applied sciences (UAS), HKMU is committed to aligning its programmes with industry developments and market needs. For the 2025/26 academic year, the University will offer 48 JUPAS programmes, 20 of which will fall under the “Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP)”, providing 1,325 subsidised places for first-year students, which is the highest among self-financing institutions in Hong Kong.

Diverse activities on Consultation Day

HKMU's upcoming Consultation Day will feature a variety of engaging activities organised by its five schools – the School of Arts and Social Sciences (A&SS), the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration (B&A), the School of Education and Languages (E&L), the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (N&HS), and the School of Science and Technology (S&T). The activities include programme talks, interactive teaching demonstrations, and guided tours of labs and studios to enable visitors to learn more about the admission requirements and programme highlights. Here are some examples:

  • A&SS: An “Alumni Sharing” session featuring Ms Joyce Lee Yuen-yee, a documentary filmmaker, founder of an online film platform, and graduate of the Creative Writing and Film Arts programme.
  • B&A: A “Meet with Professors” programme consultation session, in which faculty members will address participants' questions in a face-to-face setting.
  • E&L: A “Taster Class on Linguistics and Language Teaching”, offering a first-hand experience of university lectures.
  • N&HS: A “Nursing Taster Workshop”, focusing on wound care, nasogastric tube insertion and a mental assessment guide.
  • S&T: A “Lab Tour”, showcasing the 7,000-square-foot Medical Science Laboratory, equipped with advanced instruments.

In addition, there will be admissions talks and consultation counters to answer questions about admission procedures and scholarship opportunities. Visitors will also have a chance to experience HKMU's campus life and facilities.

Professional and practical programmes at HKMU

As a UAS, HKMU emphasises close collaboration with professional sectors and industries. Its programmes integrate numerous internships and hands-on learning opportunities, equipping students with practical skills needed for seamless career entry. Two new practical programmes will be launched in the 2025/26 academic year:

The “Bachelor of Science with Honours in Building Engineering and Management” programme aims to equip students with professional skills and knowledge in design, construction, maintenance and management of buildings. It will seek accreditation from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM) so that graduates may pursue relevant professional qualifications through assessments and become registered engineers or construction managers in the future. Graduates will have broad career prospects with consultants, contractors, property development companies, government departments, and so forth. The programme also plans to incorporate innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence to enhance the students' competitiveness in the job market.

The “Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours in Bilingual Studies with Applied Drama” programme aims to develop students' proficiency in both English and Chinese, supporting their career aspirations in Hong Kong and beyond. The drama component of the programme allows students to apply theatrical techniques to enhance their language and interpersonal skills. The programme offers internship experiences for students to perform and lead workshops in schools, social welfare organisations and arts organisations. They will also have exchange opportunities in Beijing, Taiwan and the United Kingdom to broaden their horizons.

The “Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours in Real Estate and Surveying” will undergo a curriculum restructuring starting in the new academic year, focusing on theoretical knowledge and practical skills in key aspects of real estate and surveying to equip students with the latest technology and management skills in the industry.

Generous scholarships to reward outstanding students

HKMU offers a number of scholarships to reward new students with outstanding academic performance and talent. Students who attain 5* or 5** in any subject under category A in the 2025 HKDSE and are admitted to the University through JUPAS will receive a scholarship of HK$40,000 for each subject. The University also provides a variety of entrance scholarships, with amounts of up to HK$120,000 for JUPAS applicants and outstanding athletes.

HKMU JUPAS Consultation Day will be held on the Ho Man Tin Main Campus, the Jockey Club Campus, and the Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare.
